[that was the theme song of our Greece trip]
anyway, to finish showing you some pictures from our trip…
[day 5]
this was pretty much the only “historical//learning” day that we had. it was actually one our favorite days (:
first stop :: zues’ temple and hadrian’s arch

second :: the modern olympic stadium

third :: the parliament building–where we saw the soldiers do their special dance

fourth :: the ancient agora

fifth :: the acropolis

sixth :: paul’s rock–aka mars hill

seventh :: hadrian’s library

eighth :: the roman agora//the tower of the winds

our final stop of the day :: GELATO and the bakery [as per usual]

…then we were off to our ferry ride to Santorini.[day 6]

i wish i had a picture of what Santorini looked like when we arrived at 1 a.m. it was beautiful in the moon light.
[day 7]
…so our hotel the first night was. um. well. not what we expected.

but after waiting a long time for a bus into the main city, we found paradise (;

::exploring the streets of fira::

this was our first frappe :: the famous drink over there

after wandering around for a few hours we went back to the hotel to read and watch the sunset…and some slept.

[day 8]
BEST day in santorini
first :: BRUNCH [best one we have had in 3 months!]

second :: ATVs for 24 hours

third :: we drove to some red // black sand beaches.
they were GORGEOUS.

fourth :: drove to Oia to watch the sunset

[these are the awesome earmuffs we got at eilat]
[day 9]
last day on santorini island

we still had the ATV’s, so we drove over to another beach (:

then we decided to walk down to the port at Fira…587 steps…this is where all the donkeys are.

[these are the men trying to talk us into taking a ride--we planned on doing it on the way up]

the port we layed out and slept//read for a few hours…we had already checked out of our room and were killing time until our ferry ride back to Athens at 1 a.m. (side note :: we didn’t sleep in a bed//shower for over 48 hours)

then we hiked back up the steep stairs to watch the sunset and search for dinner. we ended up not doing the donkey rides for two reasons :: 1. we didn’t want to stink [which in the end didn't matter because we sweated more than we would have on the donkeys] and 2. it was expensive!

*notice his tongue* :: the poor guy was exhausted [we felt his pain--those stairs were rough]
but the sunset made it all worth while (:

then we just killed time until our ferry ride.
we arrived back in Athens around 7 a.m.
sat//slept in starbucks for a few hours (: they didn’t mind.

after resting up, we walked around the city some more, trying to soak up our last hours in this wonderful place (:
we did some last minute shopping, then of course concluded our day with GELATO.
then we were off to the airport. back to reality. back to school–just three weeks.
all in all, this trip was an experience of a life-time. i loved absolutely every minute of it. God was so good to us the entire time. He is just so faithful and so gracious to us, even though we deserve absolutely none of it. i loved getting to know each of these girls better. i learned so much from all of them. they are forever my friends and sisters (: i know that the Lord has such wonderful things planned for each of them. they are just so special. so thank you :: nicole, hannah, courtney, brooke, and brooke!!! (: love you girls.

xoxo
